Heavy machinery has various uses and types, and construction machinery is a general term for power machinery used for civil engineering and construction work, and is defined as a vehicle operated by one or two people.
The words "board" and "vehicle" refer to vehicles that are operated by a person and are self-propelled. This means that unmanned devices that are not operated by humans are not included.
Heavy equipment also includes vehicles that operate on public roads, such as dump trucks and flat-body trucks. It is used for excavation, transportation, loading/unloading, snow removal, and destruction.
It would be a waste to lump everything together with one word, “heavy equipment”! There are a lot of interesting heavy machinery.
Heavymachinery
Digging/Excavating Equipment Excavator 「Micro-Mini Excavator」
This refers to hydraulic excavators/diggers of less than 1 ton. In addition to the standard cabin model, there is also a model that can be operated by stepping over it as if riding a horse. (Komatsu is famous for this). The width of the machine body is narrow, but there are some with adjustable crawlers that allow you to adjust the width of the crawler.
Digging/Excavating Equipment Excavator 「Mini Excavator」
This refers to hydraulic excavators/diggers of 1 ton to under 5 tons. It is used for a wide range of purposes such as exterior construction and demolition of narrow sites.
Digging/Excavating Equipment Excavator 「Medium Size Excavator」
This refers to hydraulic excavators of around 5 to 20 tons. It is the most popular class in Japan because of its mobility on the job sites and ease of transportation between sites.
Digging/Excavating Equipment Excavator 「Large Size Excavator」
This refers to hydraulic excavators of 30 tons or more. They are used in quarries and large-scale construction work, etc. There are sizes up to 800 tons, but the largest size in operation in Japan is 500 tons.
Crane Rough Terrain Crane
This crane is excellent for traveling on uneven ground and capable of turning in a small space. It can be driven on public roads, so it can be moved between sites. The major advantage of this type of crane is the high efficiency that enables traveling and crane operation to be operated in the same space. Tadano and Kato are well-known.
Crane Truck Crane
In general, "truck crane" is often used to refer to a crane mounted on a truck. However, officially, it refers to a crane that has a separate driving cab and crane operation room.
Crane Crawler Crane
This crane uses caterpillars (crawlers) for the undercarriage, making it possible to work on uneven ground. There are two types: a large lattice boom type designed for dismantling and assembling on site, and a small telescopic type with a multi-stage boom designed for use on narrow sites and premises.
